What to expect when dining with us

Nestled in the heart of Swellendam, our small family‑run restaurant offers an intimate dining experience. Our set menu is thoughtfully crafted using seasonal, locally sourced produce and our wine pairing is selected to complement each course with the best wines our region has to offer. The menu changes frequently

Our menu may occasionally introduce you to flavours or combinations you haven’t tried before, but every course is designed with balance, warmth, and enjoyment in mind. We hope guests arrive with curiosity and leave feeling nourished and delighted.
As our space is small and our service is centred around a multi‑course menu, all guests are seated at the same time. This allows our full focus to be on each course, ensuring that every plate receives the same care and attention. For this reason, arriving on time is very important.

Why We Require a Deposit
As a very small, family‑run restaurant, every seat truly matters. With only 18 seats available, last‑minute cancellations or no‑shows have a significant impact on our team and our ability to operate sustainably.
The 50% deposit helps us protect the work that goes into preparing your experience — from ingredients ordered specifically for your reservation, to the hands‑on preparation that begins well before you arrive. If we’re given enough notice that your plans have changed, we will always do our best to fill your seat from our waiting list and refund your deposit. If we are unable to fill the space, the deposit serves as a no‑show fee that helps cover some of our basic costs.

If You Arrive Late
We seat from 18.00 for a 18.30 start time.
Because our kitchen prepares each course for every guest at the same time, late arrivals can disrupt the flow of service. When guests arrive late, we may need to rush early courses or, in some cases, you may miss a course entirely. We do this to ensure that the rest of our guests, who arrived on time, receive the uninterrupted experience they deserve.
Each dinner is a carefully timed and choreographed sequence. Once it has begun, it’s difficult to pause without affecting everyone involved.

Dietary Requirements
We are only able to accommodate the following dietary preferences; vegetarian and pescatarian. With a small kitchen, team and a fixed tasting menu, we are simply not able to adjust every course for every restriction. Many elements of the menu are prepared in advance, which is why it is essential to inform us of any requirements at least one week before your booking to accommodate ordering times as well.
We also encourage guests to arrive with an open mind. Many diners have discovered new favourites in ingredients they previously avoided and we’d love the chance to offer that experience to you too.

How to book
No bookings are made via email or via telephone. Solely via our website with confirmed payment of the deposit per person. Due to the nature of our menu, we are unable to accommodate persons under 18 yrs of age.
Below are the dates currently available for booking. Additional dates will be released gradually over time. Please ensure that you select the correct date and the correct number of seats, as each item in your cart represents the 50% deposit for one guest.
Once your booking is completed, you will receive an email confirmation containing a link to accept our Terms & Conditions, with a form that must be filled in. The completed form and accepted Terms & Conditions are required to secure your reservation. If this is not submitted, we reserve the right to cancel your booking.

What if there is no availability for my preferred date?
From time to time, we may open additional outdoor seating on the day of service. Please note that these spaces are strictly weather dependent and may be cancelled at short notice if conditions change unexpectedly.
We recommend checking this page on the day of your preferred booking to see if any extra seats have become available. Please note that we do not operate a waiting list, and bookings cannot be made via email.
